Racist quotes are nothing new for conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.  But his most recent comments show that America is not post-racial as many had hoped when Obama was elected president.  Rather, racism is a festering wound on America’s psyche that continues to infect our country from within.

On his popular radio program Wednesday, Limbaugh declared that the United States needs to return to racially segregated buses.  Referring to a recent incident in which two black students beat up a white student on a school bus, Limbaugh said, “I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism.  I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today.  Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway.  We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff.  This is Obama’s America.”

President Obama and Vice President Biden sat down for a beer at the White House with a top African-American professor and the police officer who arrested him earlier this month.  After the meeting, Obama said in a statement he was thankful to Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley for joining him for “a friendly, thoughtful conversation.”  (CNN)
